History:
DLF's journey began with the completion of its first residential project, Krishna Nagar, in East Delhi in 1949. It then went on to develop 21 colonies in Delhi, including Model Town, Rajouri Garden, Punjabi Bagh, South Extension, Greater Kailash, Kailash Colony, and Hauz Khas. However, the Delhi Development Act of 1957 posed a significant challenge by transferring control of real estate development to the government.In response, DLF shifted its focus to Gurgaon, Haryana, a promising area for residential and commercial development. Under the leadership of Chairman K.P. Singh, DLF adopted a compassionate approach in land acquisition, partnering with farmers to ensure they shared in the profits. This approach led to the creation of a land bank, the demarcation of plots, and the sale of land to buyers with profits shared with the farmers.Notably, a ₹58 crore deal between DLF and Robert Vadra was canceled by IAS officer Ashok Khemka.
